What's better?

A question I am pondering: What's better: Stability or the unknown? Continuity or continuous change?

Next year, do I want to be able to walk to work from my house or to live and work in Valencia, Spain? I think I will apply to do both - but what if I got both jobs....which would I choose? There are strong arguments for both.

Yes, this is a personal question. Just thought I'd ask....

Subject: Re: experienced and certified ESL teacher seeking employment in Spain

Brooke,

I have summed up the job a bit in hopes of answering any questions. If you are still interested please
send me a copy of your résumé and a recent picture for consideration.

Job Description
I am looking for TEFL/ESL qualified teachers who are not afraid of working with children. Although one teacher will primarily be teaching very young learners all positions available require working with children as well as teenagers and adults. Teachers will be
responsible for planning fun and informative lessons for the week. Methodology and style of lessons are left to the teachers’ discretion but will be periodically reviewed by the director.

In addition to teaching hours teachers will be required to maintain a well-kept and clean appearance and classroom, participate in staff meetings once a trimester, make and correct trimester tests, submit progress reports for each student every trimester, and help to improve both the academy and the students’ experience of the academy.

Remuneration
Contracts will be given to those possessing a legal work permit. Salary is based on number of classroom hours, experience, and any additional skills a candidate might have such as but not limited to web design, marketing, business management, or public relations but is never less than €11/hour. Minimum of 15 hours/week teaching unless otherwise negotiated. School holidays during the academic year are paid(Christmas, Easter, etc…).

Duration
I am looking for teachers for the 2008/2009 academic year and beyond.

Location
Valencia is Spain’s 3rd largest city but more commonly thought of as Spain’s largest pueblo (village). The city is big enough to house both an active nightlife and many cultural events. Renting a furnished flat can be affordable, depending on your lifestyle, ranging from approx. 500€/month and up. If you prefer sharing a flat you can find rooms starting at approx. €150/month in the university area quite easily. Although I do not provide housing I can help steer people in the right direction if need be.

I hope this has answered any questions you have at the moment. If you are still interested in applying for the position please, if you haven’t already, send me a
copy of your CV or résumé along with a recent picture and I will get back to you to schedule a telephone interview. Please stress any experience you have teaching young children as this is what will stand out to me the most.

Thank you.
